Sponsor a Child and help him or her live a better life through education.
This program was created by GuatemalaReservations.com in conjunction with “Ninos con Bendicion,” a program located in San Antonio Aguas Calientes, a town about 20 minutes from Antigua.
CHILDREN'S FOLK DANCE PRESENTATION.
Available every day. "Ninos con Bendicion"
An excellent opportunity to see local culture and interact with the children. This program was
designed to generate funds for the children to stay in school while also maintaining their
cultural roots. The dance group is made up of 17 children ages 6-13 yrs. from some of the most
impoverished families in the village of San Antonio Aguas Calientes (20 min from Antigua). The
children present a few of the local / native (short) dances involving the crop planting and
corn harvest as well as some native Guatemalan folk dances. A small snack (safe to eat) is
presented after the dances.
This is an excellent opportunity to see local culture in a
"typical" home - try weaving, grinding corn, make tortillas and get a taste of daily life - as
you interact directly with the children. Extra time for kids of all ages to play and share.
Opportunity to shop for textiles and home made crafts. Proceeds from all sales go directly
into the education fund. VERY INTERACTIVE EXPERIENCE. http://www.supportlosninos.net
How You Can Help:
Sponsor a child to go to school: For yearly sponsorship, the specific sponsor (or sponsoring
groups) are matched with a specific child and receives regular communication about the child -
emails, photos and school updates.
Ideally, sponsors support the child in an on-going way, to ensure that children complete
their schooling. Sponsorship can be made yearly or quarterly via personal check, bank
transfer, credit card or PayPal. Current cost of US$300. covers yearly school fees, books,
supplies and uniforms.
Individuals and groups can join together to sponsor a child. Photos, a brief social history, and reports of school progress will be sent to the sponsor(s). There is also an opportunity to send letters and have a “pen pal,” if desired. The children speak and write in Spanish!
Donate: 100% of all donations go directly to the children's general fund to cover day-to-day
expenses for the children, such as meals, extra school supplies, medical costs, clothing,
music lessons, and more. No amount is too large or too small.
Buy a calendar:
Calendars make a great gift for family, friends, teachers, co-workers, or
anyone on your list. Calendar orders can be made online at: www.SupportLosNinos.net
Attend a performance in Guatemala: If you plan to be in the Antigua area and would like to see
the children perform, contact Nancy Hoffman for their public performance schedule or to
arrange a visit to their after school program in San Antonio Aguas Calientes.
The school year in Guatemala starts in January and ends in October, but funds are needed year round. Any amount donated ($5. - $500. +/-) is greatly appreciated !
UNIFORMS - after the initial purchase, there is always a need for more uniforms as the children grown and wear out the items.
MISC. CLOTHING - shoes, sneakers, socks, shirts, underwear, hats, jackets ....
EXTRA SCHOOL SUPPLIES - There is always a request for extra materials for projects, additional books or supplies.
MEDICAL / HEALTH COSTS - any doctor visit (best if they can go to a private doctor @$10. than wait in the public hospital for a consult) and/or associated medicine and/or vitamins.
FOOD - Lesbi feeds the children beans and tortillas daily. With any extra, fruits, milk, snacks, etc. can be provided periodically if not more frequently.
